Making A Change For ‘Our’ Futures

In 2023 the UK’s average carbon footprint was estimated at 10 tonnes of CO2 per person, approximately double the world’s average, and to have the best chance of ‘not’ adding a further 2℃ to global temperatures, the average carbon footprint needs to globally drop, to under 2 tons per year by 2050.

Access Building Products has taken our addition to the problem very seriously and have heavily invested this year in cutting our carbon mass down. According to government figures, Access Building Products has been creating approximately 13.5 tonnes of CO2 per year. In 2022 we invest heavily in Solar Panels, potentially cutting our electricity by 50% (6.75 tonnes of CO2 per year); putting us currently lower than the average UK home.

Further Development

Showing further intentions to reduce our carbon footprint and minimizing our impact on the environment. We are currently exploring ways to engineer 'out' any production processes that are deemed harmful to the environment. Our goal is to ensure that all of our business units are operating in a sustainable manner, while still delivering the high-quality products and services that our customers expect.

We highly believe in responsible waste management and are committed to reducing our environmental impact. That's why we recycle all of our high molecular and low molecular plastics, waste steel and corrugated paper, through registered recycling waste streams.

We also encourage our bulk commercial customers to order palletised products whenever possible. This not only helps to reduce the need for transit protection, but it also enables us to make single bulk deliveries, which reduces emissions.

Our York-based regional distribution center runs on solar power for approximately nine months each year and have made a shift towards electric company cars. We advise our representatives to use web-based visual communication methods instead of traveling to clients. We have also taken steps to minimize energy usage through investing in heavy insulation and automatic LED sensor lighting. Additionally, we ensure that all of our corrugated packaging is constructed from recycled material.

We take pride in ensuring that we are doing our part in promoting sustainability and protecting our planet and will endevour to continue exploring ways to make a positive impact on the environment.
